Our Pipedream is a beautiful sounding metallophone instrument that is perfect for playing simple melodies or improvising. It is made with the same musically-tuned tubes we use in our world famous Woodstock Chimes and is tuned to a pentatonic (five-note) scale, rooted in the music of ancient civilizations. Playing the Pipedream is easy and very satisfying. You can try the familiar songs printed in the song sheet such as Amazing Grace (with numerical notation for those who don't read music), or experiment by creating your own tunes. Part of the Woodstock Soloist Series, The Pipedream can be played along with the its bonus CD of original music composed specifically to harmonize with this chime's "solo" performance. I purchased this piece at Christmas 2023 in San Diego and I have to say it is a nice instrument. The frame is heavy duty wood and built well, the pipes are well tuned and securely placed. They even have a beginners song book that i have already memorized as well as discovered my own songs and made a few up also! The money I spent on it, (under $80.00) was well worth it! I have been looking for a xylophone for awhile now and they are either super expensive or child's toys. this one is perfect! not super expensive, well made , easy to play and not a kids toy made of plastic. If they make another one like this in a different key, I will surely purchase it! I wrote the pipe numbers on the pipes due to my memory problem. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine!
Very poor quality on the wooden parts, the mallets were badly warped. Woodstock chimes was good and sent me a new set but they are warped too. Also very rough poorly made handles. The sound is good. I guess just don’t have very high expectations and you’ll be okay. I’d say it might be fine for kids but just be careful they don’t get splinters from the mallets and the wood frame. Overall a disappointment but I should have expected it as it’s made in China.
