When he steps down after 11 years as the Chairman and almost 20 years on their Board, Garry is presented with an award from the Byrdcliffe Guild. As noted in the Times Herald-Record, Garry "has served on the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Board for almost 20 years and has been instrumental in raising significant funds for the renovation of White Pines through his 17 Woodstock Beat Concerts."

In recognition of this honor, Garry received a letter from Congressman Maurice Hinchey, who congratulated and thanked Garry for his service, saying "The resiliant combination of talented musician, artist, businessman and entrepreneur is one I don't think could have been more commendably and uniquely composed by another. It is this creative passion Garry maintains throughout all areas of interest which has allowed the Byrdcliffe guild to prosper, allowing the arts an exceptional opportunity to do so as well."
